On climate-resilient agriculture,under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC), NABARD is implementing a project on the conservation and management of indigenous cattle and sheep in the wake of climate change.
HEALDS started this project which focuses on climate-proofing of watersheds of Namakkal district in Tamil Nadu. The overall objective is to build adaptive capacities of the communities to shifting rainfall patterns and extreme weather events exacerbated by climate change in the raied areas of these two states. NABARD has already been supporting watershed development programme.
HEALDS already undertaken watershed Development Fund (WDF), on pilot basis, two blocks of Namakkal district in Tamilnadu so as to have tangible and concrete impact on communities in building climate resilience.
HEALDS selected 10 farmers and initiated the Vermi Compost, Azola Unit, Kitchen Garden and Backyard fruit plantation activities at their fields.
